We love upcycled art, especially when it utilizes tech components. These Star Wars sculptures are especially intriguing. By using something as well-known and beloved as Star Wars, theses sculptures resonate in a fun and familiar way.

These incredible Star Wars sculptures were created by the artist Gabriel Dishaw. Gabriel refers to himself as an upcycler, sculptor and junk artist. He is passionate about working with discarded metal and mechanical objects. He especially enjoys working with old computers, typewriters, adding machines and even obsolete airplane parts. Gabriel loves using otherwise useless metal objects to express the fantasy world he envisions. He especially enjoys repurposing these items into art as it allows people to connect and relate to what would otherwise be considered useless. In this way Gabriel feels he is able to both express himself and lessen the load on the environment.

In order to create his Star Wars sculptures, Gabriel collects old mechanical items and carefully dissembles them. By looking at the pieces with the view to repurpose them into art, he is able to imagine what the components could become. Gabriel then carefully reassembles the elements into sculptures using metal wire to connect the pieces.

We love the subject matter Gabriel has selected for this series. As part of his series of Star Wars sculptures Gabriel has created several different versions of Darth Vader. From steampunk, red stag and even Air Vader, we think these upcycled sculptures capture the true essence of one of the baddest villains of all time.
